Jonathan Davis - wrote about his father - Bruce Davis My father means the world to me. Having a positive role model is one of the best things that a boy can have. As a father, he always offers to help me and gives me unconditional love. As a friend and confidant I can talk to him about anything. My personal favorite is the typical “guy stuff”, such as tips about winning the ladies or trying to understand the way women think. That is another essay. When I am in trouble he disciplines me and makes sure I learn from my mistakes. Some would say that the discipline is difficult; however, I know it is making me a better person. When I do something well he is the first to recognize and congratulate me on my achievements. It does not matter how small the accomplishment. He finds a way to provide the encouragement that allows me to grow as an individual and become the person I am today. In third grade, my father had a massive heart attack. I remember crying in school wondering if my father was going to die. At such a young age it was difficult to comprehend his illness and the possibility of him not being there in my every day life. Finally, my father has the best sense of humor. He can turn the simple task of studying for a Spanish test into a comical fun filled review. There is so much to say about my father, but mostly he is my friend.

Wyatt Flynn - wrote about his stepfather - Kris Plencner Father to me has many meanings. My first father, Billy, died when I was very young. To me he looked like superman and was funny. I am reminded a lot about him form my mother, brother and sister since I didn’t really know him. Now I have a new father, Kristopher Plencner. He is funny, handsome, nice, smart, and busy. We tell each other very funny jokes. He wears tuxedos like James Bond and looks great. My dad always takes time to hem me in whatever I need. Some things he helps me with; the computer, homework, reading, games, questions, playing sports, school stuff and other things. He reads lots of history and watches the news. He also knows his facts. He knows a lot about his job. My dad is a busy man, he is on the computer all the time and at work. Those are things about my day. What my dad means to me is he is a great father. When my mom and dad got first married, I called him Kris. By the time I was 3 he felt like a real father to me and then I called him dad. Being nice and taking good care of six kids, that’s a lot of kids. He reads to my class sometimes and helps out. He is always good and I him because he is a great father.

Ashley Smialek - wrote about her grandfather - Phillip Gabel What my father means to me is a father because it’s my Grandpa. My Grandpa is an older person. But he’s younger than ever on the inside. My Grandpa is very funny. He’s always goofing around and having fun. My Grandpa is very intelligent, so if I have a question he’s there to help. He’s also very active. I think that’s what helps him to keep going. My Grandpa does a lot for my family and me. When we asked him to do something, he goes over and beyond to do it. He cares for us when we need it. He’s a very good entertainer. He’s always there for me and always will be. Whenever he talks I can hear the kindness in every word he says, this shows how kind-hearted he is. What I think of my Grandpa is he’s the best father that I could ever ask, dream, or wish for. He’s a great person to be around. He’s a fun and loving person. He’s a great encourager when it comes to sports because he’s always encouraging me. I think he’s a really funny person. My Grandpa is a superhero to me because of the amazing possibilities and expectations he does and has lived up to. He’s my role model and a very good one because he has and I think still will show me how to life the best way I can. Most of all my Grandpa is the best father ever.

Jorel Holms - wrote about his father-figure - Robert Harvey, Jr My father has never really been in my life and when my mom got married I thought it would be different with my step father. But I never felt like I had the father-son relationship with him. But I did with one man, my uncle. Robert Harvey, Jr , my uncle has welcomed me into his arms since the day I was born. One time when I was 6 years old, we were going to the park in his car, and he told me that his car could fly and reach the plane in the sky and that we were going there instead. I was really amazed and my uncle was surprised that I believed him. Well now we look back on that story and laugh because it has shown so much faith I had in my uncle and how our relationship has grown. Our relationship is very unique; we can laugh about something all night, while we can go into a deep conversation about life. He has taught me so much about myself and how to be a young man. Because of him when I start something I stick to it no matter how rough or hard it is because in the end you will have promising results. Out of all the things we have been through, I know my uncle will love me and will always be there for me no matter what because he is more than just my uncle, he is the closest thing I have to father, he is my father – figure
